Lawn Maintenance By the Seasons

Hibu Websites • Jan 12, 2022

If you want to have a healthy lawn, you need to take care of it. However, you might not necessarily know when to do the tasks that are required. If you do them at the wrong time, they might not have as much of an impact on your lawn's health. Or they could actively do harm. So take some time to schedule your lawn care based on the seasons.

Spring

Spring is often seen as the start of the growing year. This is when lawn care services begin coming out to clean up people's lawns after the winter. If you want a healthy lawn, now is the time to clean up your yard. Clear away any winter debris and dead grass. Once they're gone, fertilize your lawn. For the greenest grass, fertilizing your lawn four times a year is best. So, begin now. You'll also want to take this time to patch up any thin spots in your lawn with extra seed. This will give the seed plenty of time to sprout as the season begins.

Summer

In the heat of the summer, it is essential that you feed and water your lawn regularly. This will protect it from the heat. You can do this yourself or you can hire lawn care services to do it for you. Consistently nourish your yard throughout the summer and make sure that you're cutting the lawn with a sharpened mower in order to keep the grass neat and healthy.

Fall

Fall is the time to put your lawn to bed for the year. Cut it short and fertilize it one more time before the winter. If there are still thin patches, you can seed it in advance for next year, then cover the lawn in mulch to protect it. In most places, grass will go dormant at the end of the fall.

Winter

Winter is a time for preparation. Consider what went well with your lawn this year and what can be improved next year. You can also think about bringing in lawn care services to keep it in even better shape next year. Make your plans now so that you're ready when spring arrives.

A healthy lawn requires care all year. Take some time to plan out your schedule in order to do things when they'll be most beneficial to your lawn. This will result in healthy grass.
